DAVID ONGESA- PRESIDENT
David Ongesa is the WSPAK Second President and Secretary to the Council. He holds Msc. In Environmental Science from Kenyatta University, BSc Environmental Science with IT from Maseno University, NEBOSH IGC, NEBOSH IOG, NEBOSH Diploma, International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) certification for Managers and Supervisors and is also an IRCA Certified ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor and Implementer. He is a seasoned QHSSE Professional with more than 13 Years’ experience and has worked for Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, Oil & Gas and Consultancy sectors in reputable multinationals and companies like BAT (K) Ltd, Oilfield Movers Ltd, ARM Cement PLC and Apex Steel Ltd among others. He is currently the Regional Head of Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environment (QHSSE) at Kansai Plascon East Africa. David is a two times Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services (DOSHS) National Conference Award winner (2018 & 2022) and is the current champion. He is also NEBOSH International brand ambassador and champion.
ERICK ODONGO ONYANGO- VICE PRESIDENT
Erick Odongo Onyango is the Vice President of the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya (WSPAK). He has acquired over 15 years experience in various industries namely humanitarian, renewable energy, oil & gas drilling and production, refineries, construction, telecommunications, logistics, security, consultancy and energy as a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Practitioner, Engineer and Fire Safety Practitioner both locally and internationally. Mr. Odongo holds a Master of Science in Safety & Risk Management from the University of Strathclyde and a Master of Science in Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering from Heriot Watt University both from the United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (CMIOSH) and a Fellow Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management (FIIRSM) both in the United Kingdom. He is also an Approved Fire Safety Auditor and Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Adviser with the Directorate of Occupational Safety & Health Services (DOSHS) in Kenya. He is a mentor, mentoring those who would like to become professional in the health and safety
CHARLES OYIMBO- SECRETARY GENERAL
Charles is an environmental expert by profession specialized in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH). Charles is the current HSE Manager for Dar Al-Handasah Consultants (Shair Partners), E-commerce project in Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Previously experiences include HSE Manager, CRJE (EA) Ltd at the Business Bay Square (BBS) project in Eastleigh, Nairobi. He is a former Safety Officer, at the SBI-RCC construction responsible for environment, health and safety and compliance. He is a Registered and practicing Environment Institute of Kenya (EIK) member, NEMA registered associate expert, National Construction Authority (NCA) accredited skilled construction worker and a member of the Workplace Safety Professional Association of Kenya (WSPA-K) with more than 10 years' experience in corporate and construction sectors cumulative.
FELIX MUNYIA
Felix Munyua (aka Felix wa LOTO)is a Security and Safety Professional and a founding member of the WSPAK. He holds extensive experience in security and safety management with a career spanning 18 years in both local and multinational companies as a Security and Safety Manager. His career spans hospitality, security, horticultural and manufacturing having worked for G4S, Alliance Hotels, Sarova Hotels, Finlays, and Sc Johnson. Felix Holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounts and Auditing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University in India. He also holds several local safety certifications as well as extensive and comprehensive internal safety training. He is also a founding and active member of PROSAK (Protective and Safety Association of Kenya), Felix is currently in private business specializing Supply of Safety Equipment majoring in Lockout Tagout.The Finance Secretary, Felix is responsible for the overall direction, control and co-ordination of the internal financial function of the association.
GILBERT MARIAKA
Eng. Gilbert Mariaka is the WSPAK Organizing Secretary. He holds MSc. Occupational Health and Safety from JKUAT, BSc Mechanical Engineering From TUM, Diploma in Chemical Engineering from Eldoret Polytechnic, Level 2 IFE, NEMA Associated, Approved Fire Safety Auditor and Approved Plant Examiner by DOSHS. He is also IRCA Certified ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor and Implementer. He is a seasoned QHSSE Professional with more than 10 Years’ experience and has worked for Manufacturing, Logistics, Construction, Oil & Gas and Consultancy sectors in reputable multinationals and companies like Pwani Oil, Bollore Transport and Logistics, Torrent EA Ltd, Mackenzie EA Maritime among others. He is currently the Managing Director of Engineering Safety Consultants K Limited.
NANIS KANANA
Nanis Kanana is an enthusiastic sustainability & EHS Compliance professional in Kenya. She is passionate about making positive impact by supporting businesses, clients and communities grow sustainably. She has practiced in diverse industries such as manufacturing, construction, energy and logistics. She is a founding member & projects QHSE advisor at Compliance Management Professional Africa. She is an Executive Committee Member of Workplace Safety Professional association of Kenya. The largest safety professional association spearheading high standard safety management performance within the country. She is also the country representative for Africa Safety Award for Excellence (AfriSAFE) and an associate member of the National Environmental and Coordination Authority (NEMA). Nanis is Corporate ESG & Sustainability, Industrial Hygiene, fire safety, NEBOSH IGC, ISO 9001; 2015, FSSC 22000 & EIA certified and a holder of MSC OSH & BA Environmental science. She is enthusiastic about EHSS women leadership and believes that females in the boardroom bring a formidable talent pool desired to drive relationship, diversity and collaboration much required for excellence. EMELDA CHEMTAI
Emelda Chemtai is Co-opted Member of the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya (WSPAK). She holds BSc Environmental Health from Daystar University, NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH International Diploma.She has versatile skills set with 9 years of experience in Health, Safety and Environment profession with special focus on HSEQ consultancy, training and audit, lead auditor and implementor of ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 9001:2015 in the oil and gas industry.
